The Kennedy Chronicle

Volume 1, Issue 1 June 1999

I’m a Kennedy now!

By Lori Kennedy

Of course Lori gets front page

I’d like to talk a little bit about what it is to be "A Kennedy". As you all know, I was not born a Kennedy, but I must say, I was given a very warm welcome the first time I entered **** Bridle Road. And it didn’t take long to make myself at home. Some may say I’ve become a Kennedy because I tend to agree with what my husband thinks. Mike and I don’t think that’s the case.

What makes a Kennedy is a good sense of humor, kindness, a fun-loving attitude, loyalty and always letting a person voice their opinions, even if you might not agree with them. My list could go on, but I’m limited in the amount of space for my article after Mom’s submissions.

In the thirteen years Mike and I have been together I’ve never felt like an outsider, and that’s thanks to the kind and considerate nature of all the Kennedys I’ve come to know.

I myself, with a little help from Mike, have brought two additions to the Kennedy clan. I’m overwhelmed by the amount of love that is shown for my children. Because of that love, Brendan and Colin will never feel alone in this world. I know Mike and I wouldn’t be raising such happy kids if it weren’t for all the help we have been given by the entire family. If I haven’t said it before, thank you, thank you, thank you…

As a final note, I’d like to say that I’m proud to be in this family, and I thank God every day for the wonderful life he has allowed me to live.

Classic portrait for first newsletter. Please send your submissions for the next issue.

Mothers Day Revisited

By Jean Kennedy

bulletMothers day for Lori started with breakfast in bed. It was a rare treat thanks to Mike, Brendan and Colin for a purr-fect day.
bulletMothers Day brunch at the Yorktown Inn was a delicious surprise enjoyed by Jean Kennedy and Grandma Kennedy. Thanks Mike for making our day
bulletThe Mothers Day Social for Grandma G, at Immaculate Mary Home attended by Jean, Mike, Grandma K, Christine, Mike, Lori, Colin, Brendan, Sean, Pat, Kathleen, Tom G and Kathy C was delightful for Mom. She said to thank everyone for visiting (including Brendan, who visited late. Grandma K said "she's still expecting you"). The harp player was nice, but I did hear the residents grumbling about missing the young handsome guy who sang Sinatra tunes the year before.
bulletMothers day picnic given by Tom G. rounded off the day, attended by Kathy C, Jim C, Sandy, Brett, Mike, Lori, Michael, Colin, Brendan, Brendan Sr., Sean. He's an amazing host. I didn't expect such a sumptuous buffet planned in just a day… will I ever learn? Thanks Tom, it was fun

FROM ALL THE MOTHERS THANK YOU FOR THE LOVELY FLOWERS, CARDS AND GIFTS-keep them coming.

Unofficial Retirement of Michael Kennedy Sr. Leaves Fastest Kennedy Title Up for Grabs

By Pat Kennedy

This issue's guest sports columnist

It has been officially announced by the Kennedy Recreational Committee (KRC) that Michael Kennedy Sr. of Northeast Philadelphia has been involuntarily relieved of his Fastest Kennedy Title that he has held for the past 15 years. The KRC cited his lack of title defense in the past 15 years for the action. " Spike", as his former softball buddies liked to call him, was quoted as saying, " I'd like to go out on top ". But sources close to the Kennedy organization have confirmed suspicions that the old-timer was almost beaten by an up and coming competitor by the name of Patrick Kennedy in his last title defense. And it is widely believed that Michael has since vowed to postpone any new threats to his title by refusing to participate in

"I'm saddened by the unofficial retirement of such a great icon in the Kennedy organization"

any future events. Evidently, Patrick is Michael's second son and had this to say about the news, " I'm saddened by the unofficial retirement of such a great icon in the Kennedy organization, but I'm glad to see that the title is finally up for grabs for some other young competitors. I just wish it could have come about 10 years ago when I was about 20 lbs. lighter ". So it was with much respect to this former St. Albert the Great all-star left fielder and semi-pro rough touch football player that the KRC has allowed Michael Kennedy Sr. to hold his title for such an unprecedented amount of time. It seems the odds makers have procured Brendan Kennedy of Northeast Philadelphia as the favorite for the vacated title. No ceremonies have yet to be scheduled for " Spike's " unofficial retirement.

KENNEDY FAMILY GOSSIP Compiled by I. M. Knowsy

 Flash:

Young and lovely Christine Kennedy is setting a new family record by having four jobs simultaneously. Advice, Dear Chris, human cloning is around the corner, you’ll be okay if you volunteer now.

Speaking of Christine, Good luck with your new commune at 25th and Fairmount Sts. I hope it has enough floor space for your clothes. Tough luck about the no-pet rule but Otis should be happy enough on the dairy farm that you chose for him. Daily milking and friends in the herd will keep him content.

Knosy’s Believe It or Not!

Patrick and Kathleen were reported to have been the last couple to leave at a recent party.

Michael Kennedy Jr. was overheard admitting to being incorrect after being swayed by reasonable debate during a discussion at a local get-together.

At the same get-together, Lori Kennedy admitted to not agreeing with young Mike’s viewpoint during a different discussion. No Way, Jose!!!

Mom Kennedy is reported to be very lonely as her children are moving out one by one. The latest departure of Sean leaves only Brendan at home and it has been said that on some days she can be heard saying to herself that she wishes they would all return home so she can have one big happy family together again. Why do you keep changing locks and phone numbers, Mom??

Spiritual Wisdom

By Jean Kennedy

Make God your top priority and everything else will fall in place.

Pray and he will give you faith.

Believe and He will give you peace.

Let go and trust and He will give you direction.

Strive and He will give you courage.

Be less judgmental and you will find understanding

Show compassion and you will find love.

Forgive and you will feel His presence

More Dirt!

Pat Kennedy has been seen recently at Ward’s Tool Rentals in Huntingdon Valley. Word is out that he has reserved a large wheelbarrow for the month of August to help Kathleen get around.

Our young team of "Jen and Bren" is closing in on Mike and Lori Kennedy’s record of 742 hours on the Bridle Road living room couch. They sometimes get a little energetic but they fight it off and still hang onto that couch. It’s truly amazing!

The bathroom woes seem to have been solved at Sean and Lorraine’s new abode at Cricket Ave. in North Hills. Sean has managed to acquire a "Johnny on the Spot" from his construction site and is preparing his back yard to spend many happy moments in it. This reporter would like to mention that I don’t believe the rumor that this was necessary due to Lorraine’s extended use of their one bathroom. One only had to spend time with her down at the Ocean Beach bungalow to see how quickly she concluded her seventeen bathroom trips a day, (not counting hair touch ups).

Letter to the editor

I love the idea of this family newsletter. Good idea Mike. I hope everyone will contribute. It's a great way to stay in touch with family, and to stop that ceaseless "nobody told me that". Only one caution "DO NOT EDIT YOUR MOTHER"
